HISTORY OF THE BUGATTI TYPE 35 AND DEBUT AT 1924 GRAND PRIX

Triumphing over initial challenges, the Type 35 quickly proved its prowess on the racing circuit. By 1930, it had amassed over 2,000 race victories, making it the most successful racing automobile of all time. This remarkable achievement cemented Bugatti’s reputation as a leader in refined engineering and performance.
The Type 35’s success was driven by its advanced engineering and the skill of its drivers. The streamlined design and powerful engine set new standards in racing, influencing design for generations to come. The legacy of the Type 35 continues to inspire and captivate enthusiasts worldwide.

At the Grand Prix de Lyon, the Type 35 was piloted by renowned drivers such as Jean Chassagne, Ernest Friderich, Pierre de Vizcaya, Leonico Garnier, and Meo Costantini. Their efforts showcased the car’s potential and set the stage for its future dominance in the racing world.

The creation of the Baby Bugatti

In 1926, Ettore Bugatti wanted to honor his youngest son, Roland, on his fourth birthday with a truly extraordinary present. Drawing inspiration from a cherished symbol, he decided to craft a remarkable half-scale version of the iconic Bugatti Type 35 – a car that would later achieve legendary status as the most successful racing vehicle in history.

This endeavor led to the creation of the Bugatti Type 52, often referred to as the ‘Baby’ Bugatti. Today, this model is reimagined as a work of art, a limited edition collection of sculptures that embodies Ettore Bugatti's original vision.
